FOLD of the WEEK: Nautical Pinwheel – Corner Folder Invitation

This week's selection is truly unique, and it's a format that carries the distinctive characteristics of several specialty folds all in one format. This creative and memorable nautical invitation from Rockwell Group and designer Noble Cumming gives the feeling of casting a fishing net when opened. The piece is a special event invitation for "Summer by the Sea," a fundraiser for Citymeals-on-Wheels, and it features a locked cover that opens to reveal another layer of visuals. With the pull of gently curved panels, a huge, circular interior spread is revealed. The complex specialty format was produced by UNIMAC Graphics of Carlstadt, New Jersey. Wonderfully creative, and beautifully executed. A must-see! Watch the Video

FOLD of the WEEK: Cascading Accordion with Intricate Skyline

This FOLD of the WEEK selection is a creative and fun format that served as the center of a campaign for NYU Stern. Design firm Three Steps Ahead took a 6-panel accordion format and added some serious pizzazz with an intricate cascading New York City skyline along the top. The effect is beautiful and dimensional. Unfolded, it's a banner, and students were invited to take pictures of themselves with it and to tweet them out using #IAmStern. The photos are a lot of fun. FOLD of the WEEK: Blues-Themed Dimensional Mailer

This week's selection is a super-creative, dimensional invitation for a "Blues Night" special event. Produced by ProGraphics in Atlanta for client Georgia-Pacific, the piece arrives in a sleeve with a thumb-pull. When you remove the contents, the unique shape begs you to pull it in two directions. With one fluid movement, the flat mail piece turns into a cube-shaped amplifier with a guitar, presenting all of the event information on its sides. As a special bonus, the recipient gets a fun reminder to place on their desk! Watch the video

FOLD of the WEEK: Pocket Folder with Nested Pop-Out Accordion

This week's featured FOLD of the WEEK comes all the way from Adelaide, South Australia! Black Sheep Advertising designed this fabulous conjoined pocket folder/brochure combo for ERGO Apartments - an exciting new living community in Australia. The brochure - a 6-panel pop-out accordion format - is glued into the folder for a fabulous and dimensional experience. There's a wonderful contrast between the simplicity of the folder and the visually exciting and structural format of the brochure. Lots of attention to quality and detail make the piece a real stand out. Watch the video

This week's selection is from our friends at GLS Companies in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota. It's a format produced to show off their design, printing and finishing prowess. The piece was printed and customized on their HP 10000 digital press, and the machine-folded format - an exciting modification of a Fold of the Week favorite, the Broadside Booklet Fold - offers tremendous real estate for visuals and content. With the "Full Service" option, you also get improved tracking, free address correction service and even greater postage discounts.

To take advantage of the “Full Service” option the USPS will require each company who mails to have a Mailer Identification Number (MID) and Customer Registration Identification Number (CRID). If you do not have  a MID & CRID number and would like to get one, you can go to http://gateway.usps.com to obtain one. All non-profits are required to have a MID & CRID to obtain postage discounts as well.

FOLD of the WEEK: Amazing Auto Telescope Mailer

This fold of the week selection is another amazingly creative, fully-automated mail format from Information Packaging in Toronto, Ontario. This surprising self-mailing format looks like a flat card, but with a simple pull of a thumb tab, two panels roll out wide. We have a special Valentine fold of the week treat for everyone today! The cleverly-constructed box-shaped piece piece was digitally printed and personalized on an HP 7500, hand assembled, then shrink-wrapped and mailed First-Class.
